Dog Dosage Calculator
A dog dosage calculator for the standard veterinary dose math. Enter your dog weight and a dose rate in mg/kg, plus the concentration of the product, and the calculator returns total mg and volume in mL.
Formula
total dose (mg) = dose rate (mg/kg) x dog weight (kg) volume (mL) = total dose (mg) / concentration (mg/mL)
Worked example
A 12 kg dog with a 5 mg/kg dose rate and a 50 mg/mL product:
total dose = 5 x 12 = 60 mg
volume = 60 / 50 = 1.2 mL
Notes for dog dosing
- Small breed dogs are not scaled-down large dogs. Some drug doses differ.
- Always confirm the dose rate against a veterinary reference for dogs.
- See our drug reference for source-linked values.
